For the Gaza Palestinian American Association, supporting orphaned children in Gaza is not a side project — it is at the heart of what we do. Children who have lost their parents to the war face circumstances no child should face, and we believe they deserve more than survival. They deserve safety, stability, and a real chance to grow up with dignity.
Much of our work for orphaned children is carried out in partnership with Al-Wafa Orphan Village in southern Gaza, one of the most established institutions caring for children who have lost their families. Al-Wafa provides a sheltered environment where daily needs — food, clothing, medical care, and a safe place to sleep — are met consistently, even amid the wider crisis around it.
Beyond the basics, the Association supports the educational and developmental programs that run inside the Village. Education is what allows a child to imagine a future, and we work with Al-Wafa’s staff to ensure that classes, learning materials, and structured activities continue — even when so much of Gaza’s school system has been destroyed. The goal is not only to fill the gap left by closed schools, but to help each child discover what they are good at and what they might become.
Supporting these children is, in our view, both a moral obligation and an investment in Gaza’s future. Every orphan who is fed, taught, and cared for today is a person who will help rebuild the community tomorrow. The Association is committed to standing with them for as long as it takes.
